Mayor Garcetti was last seen on May 24th at LAX, smiling for cameras and demonstrating racist facial recognition tech. We have not been able to determine whether he exited the airport through the front door or via a flight to New Delhi.
Solidarity to the people of India, as we imagine he’s checking bags full of police surveillance technology, dysfunctional COVID relief plans, and, of course, mushy love letters to developers and City Destroyers like the Olympics. If it’s any consolation, we expect him to spend about as much time doing his new job as he’s spent in Los Angeles.
